FAQs

Please take a look through this section for answers to frequently asked questions we receive at Cardinal Urgent Care.

Do I need to make an appointment to receive care?

No, but you are welcome to do so! We take walk-ins or you can make an appointment online if you prefer. Making an appointment may cut down on your wait time.

How much does a visit cost if I don’t have insurance?

We offer discounted rates for our cash pay patients. It is our goal to make our services affordable for everyone at Cardinal Urgent Care. If you have a question about the cost of a specific test or treatment, please call or stop by and we will be happy to assist you.

Why should I choose urgent care over the ER?

Emergency Rooms (ERs) treat severe, life-threatening health problems and are staffed 24/7 for the needs of sick and dying patients. The ER is part of a hospital that receives patients via ambulance and walk-ins.

It’s best to visit an ER for life-threatening conditions where there is an immediate danger of loss of life. They have extensive medical equipment, doctors, surgeons, nurses, and specialists ready to diagnose and treat life-threatening conditions.

This all comes at quite a cost however, and this cost is not just financial. There is often a long wait time to receive care at an ER if you aren’t experiencing a life-threatening condition and they do not accept appointments. You could be stuck waiting for multiple hours to get seen and your bill will be much higher than a bill from an urgent care for the exact same services.

Cardinal Urgent Care has many advantages over the ER when you are ill or injured. We are staffed by qualified providers who all have extensive experience in emergency medicine. We are also open later than your primary care office. We accept walk-ins and appointments, usually with same-day scheduling. Cardinal Urgent Care is also equipped with a state-of-the-art x-ray machine and will have board certified Radiologist review your film in usually no more than 30 minutes. We have onsite testing for COVID, flu, strep, and urinalysis as well.

Overall, compared to your local ER you will find our urgent care to be: more affordable, more convenient, and faster.

What types of services do you provide?

We provide urgent care services as well as occupational medicine services. We treat minor illnesses and injuries. We also provide sports physicals and DOT physicals.

Is there an age limit for patients?

We are happy to see any patient over the age of 30 days.

Is Cardinal Urgent Care open on holidays?

Cardinal Urgent Care will be closed to observe 6 holidays per year. These include: Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Do your providers make referrals to other providers?

We will be able to provide you with information for local specialists if needed.

What’s in the patient portal?

It is a HIPAA-secure portal that allows you to see your previous visits and messages from the urgent care team.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your photo ID, your insurance card and payment method, and a list of any medications you are currently taking.

Can I get my DOT physical at the clinic?

Yes! We regularly perform DOT physicals. They are by appointment only and you need to call the office to schedule you visit. They are done Wednesday-Saturday.
